March at the Foodbank.
March has been one of those months that reminds us just how powerful a community can be. From school assemblies and visits to live music, volunteering, and shared meals, we have been surrounded by generosity, encouragement and genuine care for one another.
Gimme Shelter – music bringing the community together
One of the highlights of the month was Gimme Shelter, our fantastic evening of live music. Local bands gave their time and talent to help raise money for theSt Peter’s Charities including the East Elmbridge foodbank, and the atmosphere was absolutely electric. It was more than just a great night out – it was a chance for our bands to showcase their talent whilst raising over £3,000.
We are so grateful to every band that performed, everyone who attended, and all those who helped organise the event. Your support will make a real difference to families who need help right now.
Inspiring the next generation
March was also a busy month for working with schools. We visited several schools to lead assemblies and talk about the work of the foodbank and why it matters. The response from the children was inspiring – thoughtful questions, genuine interest, and a real desire to help others.
We were also delighted to welcome Beavers who came to visit the foodbank. Seeing young people learn about kindness, generosity and supporting their community is always something special.
A huge thank you as well to ACS School Cobham, whose students and families donated an amazing amount of food and essentials. Your generosity will go directly to people who really need it.
Easter kindness for local children
We have also been blown away by the generosity of young people in our community this month. Frederick Payne Funeral Directors in East Molesey and 1st Weston Green Brownies worked incredibly hard to collect Easter eggs for children in need. Over 60 eggs were delivered to local schools so they can be given directly to families who may otherwise miss out.
It is such a simple but powerful act of kindness, and it means so much to the children who receive them. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this happen.
A creative volunteer touch
One of our wonderful volunteers has created a beautiful post box topper celebrating our busy community breakfast and foodbank sessions. The topper captures the heart of what happens here every week – people chatting, building connections, volunteers serving, food being shared and a real sense of warmth and welcome.
It’s such a creative and thoughtful way to show what the foodbank means to the community, and it has already brought so many smiles to people passing by. We are so grateful for the time, talent and love that went into creating it.

Volunteers making a difference
We were thrilled to welcome staff from Infonetica, who came in to volunteer with us. Corporate volunteering days like this make such a difference – not just because of the practical help, but because it shows how local businesses are stepping up to support their community. Thank you for your time, energy and enthusiasm.
Celebrating together
Our community breakfast continues to be a place where people can come not just for food, but for connection and belonging. This month we had the joy of celebrating Eid together, sharing food, conversation and a real sense of community. It was a lovely reminder that the foodbank is about more than food – it’s about people supporting one another.

The impact this month
Thanks to your support, during March we were able to:
Help over 125 people through the foodbank
Serve over 310 meals at our community breakfast and lunch
Welcome schools, volunteers and community groups who are helping us grow stronger every day.
Every donation, every volunteer hour, every visit and every kind word helps us continue this work. Thank you for standing with us and for being part of such a caring community.
If you would like to get involved – whether by volunteering, donating, or attending one of our events – we would love to hear from you. Together, we really are making a difference.
