How to get help

 

Before you come along to a food bank centre to get food, you need a voucher.

That’s because we don’t just want to give you a few meals as a short term fix.

So we work with lots of different organisations who provide food bank vouchers and can offer support that goes far beyond a food parcel.

You might only need help for a week or two, but each of our Referral Agencies provide long term support if needed, to help address some of the issues behind the reasons for your crisis.

When you chat to them, they will get some basic details from you to help them identify the cause of your crisis and offer practical guidance. It also means we are able to prepare your food parcel ready for your arrival at our food bank centre(s).

 

We’ve listed some of our Referral Agencies below.

If you’ve been in contact with one of them before we suggest you contact them to get a food bank voucher.

If you’re new, please contact whoever you feel most comfortable reaching out to.

• Esher Citizens Advice can help you with many things including providing food bank vouchers : call 01372 464770 (10.30-3.30 Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, 1.00-3.30 Weds) or contact them online
• If you are seeking work, your job coach can issue you with a voucher or you could visit Weybridge Job Centre Plus
• If you have a school aged child, please contact your child’s school or Home School Link Worker who will be able to help you
• If you have recently had a baby, your health visitor can refer you
• You can contact your local church. Many local churches refer people to us so do try your closest one. St Peter’s West Molesey and St Nic’s Thames Ditton also host our food bank centre sessions.
• You can also ask your GP or support worker if you have one

And if you really don’t know who to ask, you can always contact us for some advice on who might be the best Referral Agency for you.
