What food is provided?

Our food bank provides three days of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food on a pick your own basis.

We work with Trussell to ensure that we offer all of clients enough food to last three days. Both of our food bank sessions now operate on a pick your own food basis. We install a small ‘shop’ supported by our volunteers where clients can pick their own food.

Our range of food includes:

  • Breakfast cereals
  • Soup
  • Pasta or rice
  • Cooking sauces
  • Tinned beans
  • Tinned meat
  • Tinned vegetables
  • Tinned fruit
  • Tea or coffee
  • Sugar
  • Biscuits
  • Snacks

Where possible we also try to access surplus fresh bread and household supplies to give out at food bank centre sessions.

By being able to pick your own food we hope it creates dignity and removes any food waste, supporting Elmbridge and the environment.

Dietary requirements

Our food bank can usually adapt your food parcel to meet your dietary needs, for example, gluten free, halal or vegetarian.

So when you speak to your referral agency to get a voucher, don’t forget to tell them about any needs you have!
