About

About our food bank

Our vision at East Elmbridge food bank is to see East Elmbridge without food poverty.

That’s why our mission is to address the root causes of food poverty in East Elmbridge by providing practical, psychological and spiritual support to potential and current clients, both directly and through partner agencies.

To achieve our vision and mission we will seek to provide support to clients with a focus on addressing common root causes of food poverty. Our aim wherever possible is to have no long term dependence on food support for our clients.

How will we do it?

In line with the Trussell Trust’s research on food bank use, we want to develop the work of East Elmbridge food bank to focus on helping our clients access the benefits they are entitled to, and the wider support services on offer in Elmbridge.

To reduce the root causes of food poverty we’ll also reach out to those in the community at risk of becoming our clients in the future; to offer the same support services.

Support will be provided through a mixture of practical IT and financial planning support, together with counselling, mental health and spiritual support.

Longer term, the food bank will seek to help clients access services that help them find work and enhance their employability through gaining skills and work experience.

Our aim is to help clients become self-sufficient and no longer in need of our services.
